What have you seen?

In Acts 1:8, Jesus ​says to the disciples, "you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

That word - witness - tells us a ton about how Jesus wants us to reach out. In a trial, eye-witnesses are those who testify to what they have seen, heard, and experienced. That is exactly what Jesus has called us to do  - tell others what we have seen, heard, and experienced God doing in our lives.

Life before Jesus

In pursuit of Jesus, you are constantly changing & growing. You are forgiven of your sins, and a new creation - different from who you were before you met Him.  Having said that, the story of your life before Jesus is powerful.  Take a moment to work through these questions:

  1. What are some things in my life before Christ that were dragging me down (but aren't any more)>
  2. What did my life revolve around before Jesus? Money? Relationships?
  3. How did I know that knowing Jesus was better than all that?

The Day you came to Jesus

hen we first receive a gift, we cherish it.  Over time, we begin to take it for granted - forgetting what it meant to us.  Take a moment to work through these questions:​

  1. When was the first time I heard the gospel? What were my initial reactions?
  2. When and why did my perspective begin to change toward Christ?
  3. What were the final struggles that went through my mind just before I accepted Him? Why did I finally decide to accept Christ (or give Him complete control of my life)?

In Jesus's grace & gift

You are forgiven! You are created new! You are transforming into the likeness of Jesus Christ! That is something to celebrate. Take a moment to work through these questions:​

  1. How is my life different now? List some specific changes in your character, attitude and perspective on life.
  2. What motivates me now? What do I live for?
  3. Even though my life still isn’t perfect, how does knowing Christ help me deal with that fact?
Retell
the story often
Jesus often told his disciples: "Let those who have ears to listen hear." He did it when he was telling others about God, or sending his disciples to do the same. God has laid groundwork in the hearts and minds of those you might reach with your story. Be willing to plant the seeds, and God will handle the rest.
